Statement Regarding The Marching Band Program

August 16, 2020

During the afternoon of Saturday, August 15, 2020, the Millersburg Area School District became aware of a possible confirmed case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) affecting one of its students in the marching band.  The school district notified the Pennsylvania Department of Health and followed the guidance it received.

The student is quarantined and is recovering at home. The individual in question did have contact with other members of the Millersburg Area Marching Band within the past fourteen days.  Those that are identified as potential close contacts will be notified by Contact Tracers from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The Millersburg Area School District has an extracurricular health and safety plan in place and that plan was being used by the marching band staff and students.  The individual was not showing symptoms at the time of the test.

On August 13, 2020, the Millersburg Area Marching Band announced that they were suspending all activities until August 31, 2020 in alignment with the announcement suspending all extracurricular athletic activities.

The Millersburg Area School District will continue to fully cooperate with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and monitor cases related to its schools. The health and safety of students and staff will remain our highest priority.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
