Joint Press Release Millersburg Area School District and Upper Dauphin Area School District Investigating the Possibilities of District Merger
During the joint board meeting between the Millersburg Area School District and the Upper Dauphin Area School District on April 15, 2019, the boards approved two motions supporting a feasibility study. The first motion approved acceptance of a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to the Millersburg Area School District (“MASD”) for $50,000, with said funds applied to pay for Phase One of the merger feasibility study with the understandings that the Upper Dauphin Area School District (“UDASD”) and MASD are jointly obligated to pay for the Study and that UDASD is thus an indirect beneficiary of the PDE Grant. The second motion approved acceptance of the Pennsylvania Economy League, Inc. (PEL) to provide a comprehensive report on the possibilities of district merger between the two districts.
The anticipated timeline for completion of Phase One of the merger feasibility study is early fall of 2019. The districts will continue to include and inform stakeholders throughout this process.
