• Secondary Teacher Guidance:

    Grade 6 – Grade 12

You, as a classroom teacher, remain the best resource to help students with the work you are assigning to be completed.  Continue to use email, Canvas, Google Classroom, your webpage etc. to directly connect with your students and parents.

The District’s goal during this extended, mandated school closure is to ensure that students, teachers and parents can experience success, while maintaining a high degree of flexibility and patience.  Teachers will prepare Planned Instruction activities in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies that will provide approximately 120-160 minutes of learning each day.  In these subjects, teachers are to focus on essential content only during an extended closure.  This instruction can utilize any digital format (Canvas, Google Classroom, websites, etc.) at the discretion of the teacherHowever, initial contact and directions must be on each teacher’s website.  Instruction may be added daily or by “chunks” at the teacher’s discretion.  Remember, the intent is not to duplicate the brick and mortar school day.

Enrichment and Review activities will continue to be provided for all other subjects (Music, Chorus, Art, Physical Education, Technology Education, World Language, Guidance, etc.) for Grade 6 – Grade 12.  This can be done on the teacher’s website, Canvas page, or any other digital method reasonably available to teachers/parents.  Enrichment and Review in these subject areas will continue as long as schools are mandated to be closed.
