6th Grade STEAM Project - Seismic Safe Houses

This week in STEAM, our 6th Grade Science Classes created Seismic Safe houses for the earthquake shake table.  Each student had to research, design and then construct a home (a shoebox would do) that would attempt to protect a raw egg (in a baggie) in a simulated earthquake. Students also had to complete questions that were related to their house, as well as a “dream” seismic safe structure.  After the first day of testing, students could modify their home before testing a second time.
