     Second Step
     
    Second Step: Student Success Through Prevention is a program that plays a vital role in helping students develop skills, behaviors, and attitudes that will help them in middle school and throughout their lives. Second Step addresses multiple aspects of a student's social, emotional, and school successes. The goals of Second Step are to decrease aggression, violence, bullying, and substance abuse. The primary objective of Second Step is to increase school success for each student.

    Five main themes are included throughout the lessons at each level. They are as follows:
    - Empathy and communication
    - Bullying prevention
    - Emotion management
    - Problem solving, decision making, and goal setting
    - Substance abuse prevention
     
    Second Step is integrated into the health curriculum.
