In 7th grade Health we will focus on the topics of Alcohol and Drugs for the remainder of the school year.
During the alcohol unit students will learn the short and long term effects of alcohol use on the body and how it harms the body. Students will explore how using alcohol affects a person's decisions and relationships and how alcohol use is harmful to teens. Additionally, students will identify reasons not to use alcohol and formulate alternatives to drinking alcohol, and how to seek help. Students will explore all of these topics through lectures, projects, debates, and both indivdualized and grouped classwork.
Our Drug unit will focus on the risks associated with drug use and abuse and explore the effects of different drugs on the body. Students will describe why drug use is harmful to teens and how drug use may lead to crime. Lastly, students will identify reasons to be drug free and find alternatives to drug use. Students will explore these topics through lectures, projects, debates, and both individualized and grouped classwork.
