This year Dauphin County is offering your child a unique opportunity. Heather Crook of Millersburg Communities That Care will be presenting the Botvin LifeSkills Training. The Botvin LifeSkills Training is a groundbreaking program based on more than 30 years of peer reviewed scientific research. It is a comprehensive, dynamic, and developmentally appropriate substance abuse and violence prevention program. This highly effective curriculum has been proven to help increase self-esteem, develop healthy attitudes, and improve their knowledge of essential life skills - all of which promote healthy and positive personal development. For the past three years the Botvin Life Skills Training has been an integral part of our fifth grade D&A prevention program. This year with Dauphin County's funding of new programs, we have been able to move the Botvin LifeSkills Training to fourth grade in an effort to better prepare students for the D&A prevention program in fifth grade. More information about the Botvin LifeSkills Training can be found at www.lifeskillstraining.com. The Botvin LifeSkills Training will be presented during your child's Guidance special for eight weeks.
We believe this will be a rewarding and valuable experience for your child. Please ask them what they are learning, and as always, please do not hesitate to call me with any questions or concerns at (717) 692-3072.
