Mr. Bowling - MusicTesting...Testing...Testing!Every year, it seems your children are being tested more and more. And every year, it feels like more and more people who should know better are evaluating your child's progress as a student (as a person!) by their performance on these tests. Not only does that practice fall short of evaluating your child's progress, the impact of some subjects could NEVER be evaluated using such tests:To learn more about how music affects academic achievement and (more importantly) the growth of the whole child, visit http://www.broaderminded.com_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Music allows us to celebrate and preserve our cultural heritages, and also to explore the realms of expression, imagination, and creation resulting in new knowledge. Therefore, every individual should be guaranteed the opportunity to learn music and to share in musical experiences.
"When I hear people asking how do we fix the education system, I tell them we need to do the opposite of what is happening, cutting budgets by cutting music programs. Nothing could be more stupid than removing the ability for the left and right brains to function. Ask a CEO what they are looking for in an employee and they say they need people who understand teamwork, people who are disciplined, people who understand the big picture. You know what they need? They need musicians."
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee

At Lenkerville, students are given the opportunity to make music during every music class, and students in 4th and 5th grade are eligible to join the chorus, which presents two concerts per year. What am I making your kids listen to? Go to "Today In Music Class" and find out! Every day it's something different!
